Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, respectful personal care to elderly residents including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and lift equipment
• Monitor residents and report changes in condition promptly to nurses and supervisors
• Document care accurately and timely in resident charts and electronic records
• Support mealtime service, feeding assistance, and observe dietary needs
• Promote resident dignity and independence through person-centered care and positive interactions
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent (CNA) — required
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Ability to pass background check and required health screening/immunizations
• Comfort working nights and supporting geriatric populations with patience and empathy
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification (or CNA) as required by Maryland regulations

Knowledge & Skills

• Working knowledge of ADLs (activities of daily living) and basic geriatric care
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safe patient handling
• Good charting and observation skills to accurately report resident changes
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy long-term care setting
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
