Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, expert care to laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns from admission to discharge
- Perform triage and non-stress tests to assess maternal and fetal well-being
- Serve as the second nurse at deliveries and manage overflow patients during busy times
- Collaborate closely with physicians, pediatricians, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver patient-centered care
- Monitor and respond to complications during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum phases
- Document patient care clearly and communicate changes in condition effectively to the care team
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Labor-trained (required)
- NRP certification (required)
- STABLE certification (required)
- Fetal Monitoring certification Intermediate or above (required)
- Comfort working in a fast-paced obstetrics unit and as part of a close-knit team
- Experience in Critical Access Hospital settings is a plus
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Labor and delivery best practices and newborn care
- Postpartum maternal care and newborn transition support
- Fetal monitoring and interpretation of NSTs
- Triage and rapid assessment skills
- Delivery support and ability to assist as second nurse
- Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and clear communication with physicians and pediatricians
