Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert care to laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns from admission to discharge
• Perform triage and non-stress tests to assess maternal and fetal well-being
• Serve as the second nurse at deliveries and manage overflow patients during busy times
• Collaborate closely with physicians, pediatricians, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver patient-centered care
• Monitor and respond to complications during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum phases
• Document patient care clearly and communicate changes in condition effectively to the care team

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Labor-trained (required)
• NRP certification (required)
• STABLE certification (required)
• Fetal Monitoring certification Intermediate or above (required)
• Comfort working in a fast-paced obstetrics unit and as part of a close-knit team
• Experience in Critical Access Hospital settings is a plus

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor and delivery best practices and newborn care
• Postpartum maternal care and newborn transition support
• Fetal monitoring and interpretation of NSTs
• Triage and rapid assessment skills
• Delivery support and ability to assist as second nurse
• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and clear communication with physicians and pediatricians
