Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Brooklyn Park, MD
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Evening shift). Days of week to be confirmed by facility.
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to residents, promoting dignity and independence
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and thoroughly in resident records
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention measures
- Follow infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe environment
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
- Engage residents in meaningful activities and emotional support to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- GNA certification (state-approved) — required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or as required by the facility
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility health requirements
- Comfortable assisting with physical care tasks and transferring residents
- Strong communication and compassionate bedside manner
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Basic vital signs monitoring and observation skills
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and safe resident handling
- Accurate documentation and charting skills
- Teamwork, time management, and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow care plans and physician/nurse directions
