Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and compassion
- Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the nursing team
- Take and record vital signs accurately and document findings in the resident record
- Provide friendly companionship and engage residents in social activities to support emotional well-being
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by facility
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
- Comfort working overnight and supporting an older adult population
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification or equivalent state-approved nursing assistant training
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in safe resident handling and mobility assistance
- Basic clinical skills: vitals, documentation, observation
- Familiarity with infection prevention and patient safety practices
- Compassionate interpersonal skills and patience with residents
