Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care by assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team promptly
- Document care accurately and timely, keeping resident records up to date
- Follow individualized care plans and support therapeutic routines
- Maintain a clean, sanitary environment and practice infection prevention
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver excellent care
- Engage residents with dignity and respect, providing emotional support and companionship
Qualifications
- State GNA certification or equivalent (required)
- Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred or obtain upon hire)
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB testing as required by facility
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Comfortable working nights and supporting geriatric populations
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of geriatric care principles and common aging-related conditions
- Skillful in safe resident handling, transfers and fall prevention
- Able to take and record vital signs accurately and recognize concerning trends
- Good documentation practices and basic charting skills
- Infection control best practices and proper PPE use
- Compassionate interpersonal skills and patient-focused communication
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
