Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (day) with approximately one overnight on-call per week and approximately one weekend every 5 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $70 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled pre-operative assessments and prepare patients for surgery with attention to detail and compassion
- Deliver safe, vigilant post-anesthesia care in PACU, monitoring vitals and recovery status closely
- Respond professionally to on-call notifications, including overnight patient needs and emergent situations
- Float to appropriate departments as needed, accepting patient loads or performing task-oriented duties like answering call lights and phones
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in the medical record
- Educate patients and families about post-op care and recovery expectations with clarity and empathy
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (appropriate state licensure required)
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Pre-Op and PACU settings
- American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
- Comfortable with on-call responsibilities including approximately one overnight per week and occasional weekend coverage
- Willingness and ability to float to other units when clinically appropriate
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong post-anesthesia assessment and monitoring skills
- Proficiency in patient triage, recovery interventions, and rapid response recognition
- Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience with medication administration and IV management in perioperative settings
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced surgical environment while maintaining patient safety
- Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
