Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients with pulmonary disorders and develop respiratory care plans in collaboration with the care team
- Collect and analyze sputum, blood and breath specimens to determine gas levels and guide treatment
- Perform pulmonary function testing to evaluate lung capacity and respiratory function
- Administer physician-prescribed respiratory treatments and monitor patient responses
- Provide oversight and direction to respiratory therapy technicians to ensure safe, effective care
- Document assessments, treatments and patient progress clearly and promptly in the medical record
- Participate in emergency response and airway management as needed to support patient safety
- Educate patients and families about respiratory diagnoses, therapies and home care plans
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — verification required with submission
- NBRC certification required
- Current New Hampshire RCP licensure required
- ACLS, BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 2+ years of current respiratory therapy experience — CRTs will not be considered
- PALS and CPFT highly preferred
- Previous travel experience highly preferred
- Traveler must have their own vehicle and include permanent address in profile
- All medical/occupational health compliance items must be completed and uploaded within 5 days of offer acceptance
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in ABG analysis and interpretation
- Skilled in pulmonary function testing (PFTs) and specimen collection (sputum, blood, breath)
- Strong hands-on experience administering respiratory care treatments and ventilator management
- Ability to supervise and train respiratory therapy technicians
- Clear clinical documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
- Quick decision-making and emergency airway management skills
- Familiarity with protocols for infection control and patient safety
