Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for patients in the assigned area
- Assess patient condition, monitor vitals, and report changes to the care team
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per orders
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update care plans
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record
- Support patient and family education with clear, reassuring communication
- Participate in shift handoffs and unit tasks to ensure seamless patient care
Qualifications
- Active LPN or RN license (eligible to practice in New Mexico) — required
- Graduation from an accredited LPN or RN nursing program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS/PALS as required by unit
- Prior clinical experience preferred; new grads may be considered depending on facility need
- Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and teamwork skills
- Current immunizations and background checks per facility policy
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse program
- Preferred: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma for RNs
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamental nursing assessment and clinical care skills for adult patients
- Medication administration and IV/infusion familiarity as applicable
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond calmly in busy environments
- Proficient documentation practices and electronic health record use
- Patient-centered communication and family education techniques
- Basic knowledge of infection control and safety standards
