Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care during overnight shifts
- Perform thorough assessments and document changes in condition accurately
- Administer medications and treatments safely, per policy and scope
- Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized plans
- Support patient mobility, safety and comfort throughout the night
- Communicate effectively with families, physicians and daytime staff during handoff
- Maintain accurate, timely electronic health record documentation
Qualifications
- Active LPN or RN license (must be valid for practice in New Mexico)
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Experience in med-surg, rehab or long-term care is a plus
- Strong clinical assessment, medication administration and documentation skills
- Comfort working overnight hours and managing typical night shift responsibilities
- Willingness to work as a travel/contract clinician and adapt to new settings
Education
- LPN: Vocational nursing diploma or equivalent and active LPN license
- RN: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and active RN license
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable with medication administration and IV/PO routines
- Solid patient assessment and triage skills during overnight hours
- Proficient with electronic charting and documentation best practices
- Familiarity with infection control, safety protocols and fall prevention
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and stay organized on busy nights
