Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, skilled nursing care to patients during the overnight shift
- Assess, monitor and document patient status, reporting changes to the care team
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately in accordance with protocols
- Collaborate with RN colleagues, therapists and support staff to deliver coordinated care
- Support admissions, discharges and patient transfers with attention to detail
- Maintain accurate, timely charting in the electronic health record
- Follow infection control and safety procedures to protect patients and staff
- Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring peers and communicating respectfully
Qualifications
- Active LPN license in New Mexico (or eligibility to obtain state authorization) — RN license holders welcome to apply as well
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
- Previous experience in acute care, rehab or long-term care preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work independently overnight and escalate concerns appropriately
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program (LPN certificate or diploma). RN applicants should hold an accredited ADN/BSN as applicable.
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of nursing fundamentals and medication administration
- Proficiency with patient assessment, documentation and care planning
- Comfortable using electronic health records and point-of-care documentation
- Familiarity with rehab and post-acute care workflows is a plus
- Strong prioritization, critical thinking and time management skills
- Professional bedside manner and patient-centered approach
