Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate direct patient care during overnight shifts — assess, monitor and respond to patient needs
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document care in the patient record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care and smooth handoffs
• Perform clinical procedures appropriate to your licensure, including wound care, patient assessments and vital sign monitoring
• Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge instructions and follow-up needs
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and escalate changes in condition to the clinical team
• Support a positive, professional unit culture by mentoring colleagues and participating in unit initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications (ACLS, PALS) highly valued depending on unit
• Comfort and experience working night shifts and handling acute patient needs
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively
• Ability to provide safe care according to facility policies and scope of practice

Education

• LPN: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program (diploma/certificate)
• RN: Graduate of an accredited associate or bachelor nursing program (ADN/BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid patient assessment and monitoring skills
• Medication administration and documentation accuracy
• Clinical prioritization and critical thinking on overnight shifts
• Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and charting best practices
• Teamwork and ability to coordinate care across disciplines
