Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality bedside care to patients in the unit
• Administer medications, perform assessments, and monitor patient vital signs accurately
• Document patient care and changes in condition clearly and timely in the medical record
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including therapists and physicians to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families about care plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Participate in safety and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
• Support smooth shift-to-shift handoffs and maintain unit organization during busy times

Qualifications

• Current and active LPN or RN license (able to practice as Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse)
• Ability to obtain or maintain New Mexico licensure prior to assignment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or ability to obtain promptly
• Experience caring for adult patients; prior experience in rehab or acute care is a plus
• Strong communication skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to work well in a team

Education

• LPN: Completion of an accredited practical nursing program (diploma/certificate)
• RN: Completion of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) for RN candidates

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid medication administration and documentation skills
• Patient assessment and monitoring, including recognizing changes in condition
• Comfortable working with interdisciplinary teams and following care plans
• Good time management, charting accuracy, and attention to detail
• Compassionate bedside manner and patient/family education skills
