Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to Med-Surg patients, prioritizing patient-centered treatment
• Assess patient conditions, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes with sound clinical judgment
• Administer medications and IV therapies accurately and document all care in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, therapists, and support staff—to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans with clarity and empathy
• Maintain unit safety standards, infection control practices, and accurate charting to support quality outcomes
• Support precepting and mentoring of newer staff when opportunities arise

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg nursing experience (as stated in the job posting)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred
• Current CPR certification and proof of immunizations as required by the facility
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med-Surg patient care principles and adult medical-surgical diagnoses
• Proficient medication administration and IV/infusion management
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) documentation and charting best practices
• Effective patient/family education and discharge planning skills
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and function well in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Team-focused attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills
