Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality telemetry and med-surg nursing care for a mixed trauma/ortho/med-surg unit
• Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments and monitor telemetry rhythms
• Administer medications, manage IV insertions, and maintain IV therapy safely
• Perform wound care and Wound VAC changes with attention to infection prevention
• Insert and care for indwelling Foley catheters when required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute patient-centered plans of care
• Respond to acute changes and emergencies with critical thinking and confident interventions
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care

Qualifications

• Active Nursing License (RN) in good standing
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (Med-Surg/Telemetry experience preferred)
• Proven ability to work as a team player with strong critical thinking skills
• Willingness to work every-other-weekend rotations and be on-call when census is low

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Med-Surg clinical skills and experience
• Wound care and Wound VAC management
• IV insertion and IV pump management
• Foley catheter insertion and care
• Familiarity with equipment: IV pumps, SCD pumps, Kangaroo pumps, chest tubes, PCA pumps, BiPAPs, epidurals
• Strong prioritization, time management and documentation skills
• Comfort working with EMR systems and following unit policies/procedures
