Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, primarily Day 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; unit staffs both Day and Night shifts and schedule includes weekends (4 weekend shifts per schedule cycle)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $42 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, family-centered pediatric nursing care for patients across the medical/surgical pediatric unit
- Perform specialized procedures including respiratory care, central line care, G-tube/NG tube management, drains, and pre/post-op care
- Use Meditech EMR to document care, communicate with the care team, and manage patient plans
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and safe home care practices
- Maintain patient safety and monitor acuity to support appropriate patient ratios (typically 1:4)
- Float to related areas as needed (PICU, NICU, cardiac ICU, pediatric oncology) while maintaining quality care
Qualifications
- Valid Texas RN license (required)
- BLS and PALS certifications (required)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience (as listed in the posting)
- Experience with pediatric patient care and comfort with pediatric procedures
- Familiarity with Meditech or similar EMR systems (preferred)
- APHON chemo certification (preferred for oncology shifts)
- Ability to work rotating schedules, including weekends; strong teamwork and communication skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of pediatric nursing principles and family-centered care
- Skill in respiratory care, central line maintenance, and tube/drain management
- Competence in pre-op and post-op pediatric care
- Comfort functioning in higher-acuity environments (PICU, NICU, cardiac ICU)
- Proficiency with Meditech EMR documentation and workflows
- Strong assessment, clinical judgment, and patient/family education skills
