Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and treat adult patients using evidence-based speech-language pathology practices
• Perform dysphagia evaluations and lead Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies with clinical confidence
• Conduct cognitive and PMV evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in the Meditech EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and the rehab team to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families to support safe swallowing and communication carryover
• Manage a clinical caseload (typically 8–12 patients depending on evaluations/treatments)
• Be flexible and step into acute care or inpatient rehab areas as the unit needs dictate

Qualifications

• Current SLP license (required)
• ASHA recommended (strongly preferred)
• Minimum 1 year experience in acute care or inpatient rehab working with adult populations
• Competency in Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR or similar clinical documentation systems
• Flexible, collaborative team player with strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
• Willingness to work rotating weekends (no on-call expectations)

• PMV (tracheostomy/ventilator-related) evaluation and management

• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and patient/family education skills
