Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to pediatric patients across medical and surgical needs
• Manage and monitor complex pediatric care including respiratory support and central line care
• Perform GTUBE/NG tube management, drain care, and pre-op/post-op nursing responsibilities
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, following pediatric dosing protocols
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in the Meditech EMR to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain appropriate patient ratios (typically 1:4) and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Support family-centered care by educating caregivers and involving them in the care plan

Qualifications

• Valid Texas RN license (required)
• BLS and PALS certifications (required)
• Minimum 1 year clinical nursing experience (pediatric experience preferred)
• Experience with pediatric medical/surgical, PICU, NICU, or pediatric oncology is a strong plus
• Comfortable with Meditech EMR or similar electronic charting systems
• APHON Chemo Certification preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Experience with respiratory care, including airway management for children
• Competence in central line management and infection prevention
• Skilled in enteral tube (GTUBE/NG) care and post-op drain management
• Ability to work in fast-paced units and prioritize care for multiple patients
• Excellent communication and family education skills
