Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for surgical/oncology ICU patients with focused, compassionate patient-centered care
• Manage ventilators and advanced airway procedures including intubation and post-intubation care
• Perform and support bedside ICU procedures such as central line care, thoracentesis, cardioversions and catheter placements
• Deliver dialysis/CRRT support and operate NXStage equipment as part of renal therapy
• Monitor hemodynamics and use advanced monitors such as GE cardiac output monitoring to guide care
• Document assessments, interventions and plans accurately in Meditech to maintain continuity and compliance
• Prioritize and assign care based on patient acuity, collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families about care plans and transitions, ensuring clear communication

Qualifications

• Active RN — Texas license required (temporary permits will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience (SICU or surgical ICU experience preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience with ventilator management, intubation, central line care and bedside ICU procedures
• CRRT experience and comfort with dialysis/NXStage preferred
• Meditech documentation experience preferred
• CCRN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and surgical ICU patient management
• Ventilator management and advanced airway support
• Central line care and bedside invasive procedures
• Dialysis/CRRT operation and monitoring (NXStage experience a plus)
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic documentation
• Use of Arctic Sun cooling systems and GE cardiac output monitoring
• Ability to triage by acuity and work safely in a 1:2 patient ratio environment
