Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based critical care to MICU/MSICU patients, ensuring safety and comfort
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support with precision and clinical judgment
• Perform and assist with invasive procedures such as central line placement, catheter placements, thoracentesis and bedside dialysis
• Lead cardiac monitoring and respond to arrhythmias, cardioversions and acute changes in patient status
• Safely perform intubations and participate in airway management as needed
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech to maintain continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and adjust individualized care plans
• Mentor and support colleagues while floating as needed to meet unit staffing requirements

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas (active RN TX license required; temporary licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of recent MICU/MSICU experience (candidates without this will not be considered)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• CCRN preferred and highly valued
• Proven ability to perform ICU procedures including central lines, intubations, cardioversions and bedside dialysis
• Comfortable using Meditech documentation and familiar with ICU equipment (ventilators, NXStage, Arctic Sun, GE cardiac output monitors)

Education

• Active RN licensure (required)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care nursing knowledge and the ability to prioritize in high-acuity environments
• Expertise in ventilator management and advanced respiratory care
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and interpreting telemetry
• Experience with invasive ICU procedures and emergency responses
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic documentation workflows
• Ability to adapt to floating and changing unit assignments as needed
• Excellent communication, teamwork and bedside assessment skills
