Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality PCU/HVU nursing care to adult patients, monitoring changes and intervening promptly
• Perform thorough assessments and maintain detailed, accurate clinical documentation
• Administer medications and therapies safely, following facility protocols and best practices
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and execute individualized care plans
• Respond swiftly to patient deterioration and assist with emergency interventions when needed
• Educate patients and families with compassion and clarity about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
• Support unit flow by communicating effectively during handoffs and coordinating patient transitions

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Texas or compact) required
• Minimum of 1 year of recent nursing experience, preferably in PCU, HVU, telemetry, or progressive care
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Current immunizations and required health screenings as per facility policy
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation for progressive care patients
• IV medication administration, infusion pump management, and central line care
• Familiarity with common progressive care interventions and monitoring
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education abilities
• Comfortable with electronic health record documentation and timely charting
• Ability to remain calm and decisive during urgent clinical situations
