Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality PCU/HVU nursing care to adult patients, monitoring changes and intervening promptly
- Perform thorough assessments and maintain detailed, accurate clinical documentation
- Administer medications and therapies safely, following facility protocols and best practices
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and execute individualized care plans
- Respond swiftly to patient deterioration and assist with emergency interventions when needed
- Educate patients and families with compassion and clarity about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
- Support unit flow by communicating effectively during handoffs and coordinating patient transitions
Qualifications
- Active RN license (Texas or compact) required
- Minimum of 1 year of recent nursing experience, preferably in PCU, HVU, telemetry, or progressive care
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Current immunizations and required health screenings as per facility policy
- Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation for progressive care patients
- IV medication administration, infusion pump management, and central line care
- Familiarity with common progressive care interventions and monitoring
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education abilities
- Comfortable with electronic health record documentation and timely charting
- Ability to remain calm and decisive during urgent clinical situations
