Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill neonates, maintaining meticulous attention to respiratory and ventilator management
• Provide advanced care for preemies (≥28 weeks) including central line and intubated patient management
• Deliver compassionate, family-centered care and communicate clinical status clearly to families and the care team
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during procedures such as central line insertions and post-op care
• Document clinical findings accurately using CPN and Meditech documentation systems
• Respond rapidly to emergencies and stabilize neonates using NRP and advanced neonatal interventions
• Support unit staffing and float coverage as needed to maintain high-quality patient ratios

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (state of Texas or compact RN) required
• Minimum 1 year of Level III NICU experience
• Certifications: NRP and BLS required
• Hands-on experience with preemie care (≥28 weeks), central line management, and intubated/ventilated patients
• Comfortable with unit equipment including nasal cannula, bubble CPAP, vents, oscillators, IV pumps, and warmers
• Familiarity with CPN and Meditech documentation systems
• Ability to work rotating nights, weekends, and holidays and to float to PICU, Pediatrics, or CICU when required

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neonatal respiratory assessment and ventilator management skills
• Proficient in central line care and infection prevention practices
• Skilled in neonatal resuscitation protocols (NRP) and emergency response
• Excellent clinical documentation and electronic charting (CPN, Meditech)
• Ability to triage, prioritize, and manage high-acuity neonatal patients
• Collaborative communication with families and interdisciplinary teams
