Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures
• Prepare the OR environment, ensure sterile technique, and verify instruments and supplies
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical techs to coordinate patient care
• Perform patient assessments and contribute to pre-op and post-op planning and education
• Advocate for patient safety and infection control best practices throughout the perioperative process
• Document care accurately in the electronic medical record and communicate changes to the team
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities to enhance surgical outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Texas or compact eligible) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience; perioperative/OR experience strongly preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS and specialty perioperative certifications a plus
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Patient assessment and intraoperative monitoring
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and OR workflows
• Electronic medical record documentation and charting
• Team communication, time management, and prioritization under pressure
• Infection prevention and patient safety practices
