Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered critical care for ICU patients, monitoring and responding to changes in condition
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Operate and troubleshoot ICU equipment such as ventilators and hemodynamic monitors
- Administer medications and titrate drips safely following protocols and clinical judgment
- Perform thorough assessments, document findings, and communicate changes to physicians and families
- Mentor and support peers and ancillary staff to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact multistate license (where applicable)
- Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience (critical care experience required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS certification required or obtained upon hire
- Current clinical competency with ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of critical care nursing principles and best practices
- Experience managing ventilators and advanced airway care
- Skill in interpreting hemodynamic data and titrating vasoactive medications
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm in high-acuity situations
- Proficient documentation and electronic medical record (EMR) skills
