Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform nuclear medicine imaging studies with care and precision to support accurate diagnoses
- Operate and maintain nuclear medicine imaging equipment (gamma cameras, SPECT) safely and effectively
- Prepare, handle, and administer radiopharmaceuticals following facility protocols and safety standards
- Provide compassionate patient preparation, education, and monitoring throughout imaging procedures
- Ensure accurate documentation, image processing, and timely reporting to the clinical team
- Adhere to radiation safety, infection control, and quality assurance procedures at all times
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and technologists to optimize patient care and workflow
Qualifications
- Clinical experience in nuclear medicine required — lab-only experience without nuclear medicine does not qualify
- Certification or registration in nuclear medicine technology preferred (e.g., ARRT(N) or NMTCB) or equivalent
- State licensure as required by Illinois (or ability to obtain) preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
- Strong patient-care skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Ability to follow radiation safety protocols and facility policies
Education
- Associate degree or higher in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiologic Technology, or related field preferred
- Completion of an accredited nuclear medicine program or equivalent clinical training
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven knowledge of nuclear medicine imaging procedures and protocols
- Familiarity with radiopharmaceutical preparation, handling, and decay principles
- Competence with imaging equipment operation, troubleshooting, and quality control
- Solid skills in patient positioning, immobilization, and compassionate patient care
- Accurate documentation, PACS/image handling, and basic computer skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
