Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts; primary night shift 6:45 PM - 7:00 AM (NOC), day shift 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM when floated; typically 4 shifts per week, every-other-weekend requirement, float between ICU and PCU

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for post-op cardiac, sepsis, DKA and respiratory failure patients in both ICU and PCU settings
• Manage and titrate vasoactive and sedative drips (Levophed, amiodarone, precedex, propofol, heparin, etc.) safely and per protocol
• Operate and manage mechanical ventilation and noninvasive support (ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, Airvo)
• Perform continuous cardiac and telemetry monitoring and interpret trends to guide immediate interventions
• Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists and monitor techs to deliver coordinated care
• Act as charge resource on the floor when assigned and support unit workflow and patient flow
• Document care clearly and promptly in Allscripts and participate in unit-specific orientation and training

Qualifications

• Active RN license for Texas (must be eligible to submit)
• Minimum 3 years of progressive critical care/ICU experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Proven experience with ventilator management and titration of drips
• Comfortable with ICU ratios (2:1, occasionally 3:1) and PCU care (4:1)
• Ability to float between ICU and PCU and adapt to changing acuity
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work autonomously on nights

Education

• Active RN license required; BSN preferred but not required (Associate degree or diploma acceptable)

Knowledge & Skills

• ICU and PCU clinical assessment and advanced cardiac/post-op care
• Mechanical ventilation management and troubleshooting
• Titration of vasoactive and sedative drips per protocol
• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Charting and documentation in Allscripts
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP and Airvo devices
• Teamwork, rapid decision-making, and patient/family education
