Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (includes day, evening and night rotations) with schedule variability and weekend/holiday coverage. Typical shift start/end times: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM; 10:00 AM - 10:30 PM; 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM. Includes a once-per-month weekend on-call assignment (10:00 PM - 6:00 AM).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Circulate in the operating room to ensure patient safety, maintain sterile technique, and support surgical teams
• Provide skilled post-anesthesia care in PACU and manage transitions to Phase 2 recovery
• Support CVOR cases when required and assist with cardiovascular surgical workflows
• Serve as charge nurse across areas as needed, coordinating staff and resources for smooth case flow
• Accurately document patient care in Cerner and Surginet and communicate clearly across interdisciplinary teams
• Participate in orientation activities including a sim lab and Foley skills checkoff to validate competency
• Collaborate with CSTs, RT, pharmacy and other departments to deliver trauma-level 1 care
• Adapt to a high-volume OR environment and contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent OR/PACU/CVOR acute care experience; experience must be within the past 6 months
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS required for PACU roles; scrub experience is a plus
• Must be able to function as a circulating RN; scrub skills preferred
• No first-time travel nurses; candidates must not have been full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year
• Ability to pass a pass/fail sim lab and Foley skills check on day 1 of orientation
• Willingness to work 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends, nights and holidays as part of the schedule

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred but not explicitly required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong OR nursing and circulating RN skills
• PACU and CVOR workflows and post-op care
• Experience with Cerner EMR and familiarity with Surginet
• Comfort with high-volume case flow (OR: 1200-1300 cases/month; CVOR: ~50/month)
• Familiarity with robotics, laparoscopic, orthopedic, neuro and bariatric cases
• Trauma-informed care and the ability to perform in a Level 1 trauma environment
• Charge nurse responsibilities, team coordination and effective communication
