Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care for SICU and TICU patients, including postoperative vascular and trauma patients
• Manage advanced life support for ventilated patients and those on CRRT or ECMO
• Interpret telemetry and EKG strips promptly and accurately to guide care
• Perform and support line placements and care for patients with IABP when indicated
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including intensivists, hospitalists, RT, and pharmacy
• Participate in bedside report and interdisciplinary rounds to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner and follow unit protocols and safety standards
• Float between related Sacramento facilities when census requires and adapt quickly to unit needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (required to submit)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU or critical care experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (must be current)
• TNCC and trauma experience highly preferred for TICU shifts
• Comfortable with mechanical ventilation, telemetry, and EKG interpretation
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour day shifts and every-other-weekend schedule
• Candidates must not have been employed by CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities in the past year (PRN via outside firms is acceptable)

Education

• Active RN license (California)
• BSN preferred but not required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; TNCC preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care and ICU nursing best practices
• EKG interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Mechanical ventilation management and ventilator troubleshooting
• Experience with CRRT, ECMO, and IABP patient care
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record charting
• Postoperative vascular and trauma patient management
• Strong situational awareness, triage, and rapid response skills
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
