Shift Type: Rotating day shifts (including weekend/holiday rotation) — typical scheduled shifts: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM or 12:00 PM - 10:30 PM (10-hour day shifts). Role includes rotating call responsibilities (night call typically 10:30 PM - 6:30 AM) with 30-60 minute response time.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field for a wide variety of cases, including robotics and CVOR procedures
• Scrub and circulate efficiently during cases — your attention to sterile technique keeps patients safe
• Assist surgeons during minimally invasive and open procedures, including da Vinci robotics and joint replacements
• Operate and monitor anesthesia equipment and ventilators in collaboration with anesthesia providers
• Document perioperative care accurately in Cerner (Surginet) to ensure smooth handoffs and compliance
• Respond to call assignments within the required 30-60 minute window and provide dependable coverage
• Support team workflow by relieving breaks, participating in case turnover, and maintaining OR readiness
• Adhere to department dress and infection control policies, including use of provided scrubs and proper change-out procedures

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA — required
• BLS certification — required
• Minimum 2 years of surgical tech experience (CVOR experience strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated robotics (da Vinci) experience — required
• Experience with Cerner (Surginet) or similar EMR — preferred
• Familiarity with anesthesia monitors and ventilator support in the OR
• Ability to meet call response time (30-60 minutes) and participate in weekend/holiday rotations
• Sterile Processing certification if applying for SPD roles

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• SPD certification required for sterile processing roles; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong sterile technique, scrubbing and circulating skills
• Proficiency with OR instrumentation for general, ortho, neuro, urology and robotics cases
• Comfort working in CVOR environments (open heart, TAVR, valve replacements) is a big plus
• Familiarity with Cerner (Surginet) charting and perioperative documentation
• Experience with auto-claving and SPD processes for sterile instrumentation
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and collaborate with a multidisciplinary OR team
