Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in both General OR and CVOR settings
• Support and scrub for robotic (Da Vinci) assisted cases as well as open cardiac procedures like TAVR and valve replacements
• Maintain strict perioperative sterile technique and patient safety standards for 1:1 ratios
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, OR techs and support services for efficient, safe case flow
• Relieve breaks and support team functioning when functioning as charge nurse
• Respond to call assignments within the established 30-60 minute response window
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner / Surginet and participate in handoffs

Qualifications

• Active RN license (California) required
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required; PALS preferred
• Robotics (Da Vinci) experience is required — you’ll be hands-on with robotic cases
• Cerner EMR experience preferred (Surginet familiarity a plus)
• General OR experience — posting lists 2 years required; CVOR nurses require a total of 7 years of experience (5 years general OR + 2 years CVOR)
• Ability to work 10-hour day shifts and participate in rotating call schedule
• Current clinical competency in perioperative nursing and sterile technique

Education

• Active RN license in California
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative and sterile technique for surgical settings
• Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) knowledge including open heart and TAVR/valve procedures
• Robotic surgery workflows (Da Vinci) and instrumentation
• Proficiency with Cerner / Surginet charting
• Familiarity with anesthesia monitors, ventilator presence in OR and high-acuity case management
• Team coordination with OR techs, RT, pharmacy and surgical teams
• Sterile processing fundamentals and auto-claving awareness for SPD roles
