Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (06:30 AM - 03:00 PM; 03:00 PM - 11:00 PM; 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM), variable starts between 6:30 AM and 9:00 AM, includes weekend coverage. Call required 1x/week (8-hour call windows, weekday call 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM; weekend 8-hour call shifts). Rotating (day & night).

Candidate Pay Rate: $46 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room and sterile field for trauma, orthopedic, vascular, and general surgical cases
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments and anticipating procedural needs during cases
- Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts accurately to ensure patient safety
- Prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instruments and sterile supplies between cases
- Document case activity and patient information in Cerner in a timely and accurate manner
- Participate in the unit call schedule and respond promptly for assigned call shifts
- Collaborate with perioperative team members to maintain a smooth, efficient workflow in a high-acuity acute care setting
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of surgical technologist experience (OR experience preferred)
- Comfortable working 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends, and participating in a call rotation
- Familiarity with trauma, orthopedic, vascular, and general surgical cases
- Ability to complete required orientation (12 hours stated) and comply with hospital credentialing
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong sterile technique and operating room protocols
- Instrument and procedural knowledge for trauma, ortho, vascular, and general surgery
- Charting and documentation skills using Cerner
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and situational awareness in acute care
- Ability to prioritize tasks and perform under pressure during high-acuity cases
- Reliable time management for shift-based work and call responsiveness
