Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret strips to ensure patient safety
- Promptly escalate dysrhythmias and critical findings to clinical staff
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Cerner
- Support ED boarding needs while balancing Telemetry responsibilities
- Collaborate with RNs and other team members to validate rhythm interpretations
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and ongoing competency activities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered monitoring for up to 50 patients when assigned
Qualifications
- Dysrhythmia course certificate is required
- Current BLS (AHA) certification
- Monitor Technician experience greater than 1 year
- Familiarity with Cerner or similar electronic charting systems
- Comfort floating between Telemetry and ED boarding areas
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and every other weekend
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of Monitor Technician training or equivalent preferred
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm/strip interpretation
- Strong attention to detail and quick recognition of rhythm changes
- Clear communication with nurses and providers for timely escalation
- Time management and multi-tasking across a high-volume unit
- Basic troubleshooting of monitor equipment
- Understanding of ED boarding flow and acute care telemetry needs
