Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents to promote dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility)
• Monitor, document and report changes in residents’ conditions to the nursing team promptly
• Support safe transfers and positioning using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Follow care plans and treatment instructions to ensure continuity of quality care
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control and safety protocols
• Communicate respectfully with residents, families and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification encouraged or required per facility policy
• Background check and drug screening clearance as required by the facility
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatrics preferred but new grads with certification are welcome
• Up-to-date immunizations (flu, TB screening) as required by the facility

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required
• GNA certificate/license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Focused knowledge of geriatric care and common age-related conditions
• Comfort assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
• Clear, compassionate communication with residents and families
• Basic documentation skills and attention to detail
• Understanding of infection control practices and HIPAA privacy rules
• Ability to work as part of a collaborative care team
