Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents to promote dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility)
- Monitor, document and report changes in residents’ conditions to the nursing team promptly
- Support safe transfers and positioning using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Follow care plans and treatment instructions to ensure continuity of quality care
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control and safety protocols
- Communicate respectfully with residents, families and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification encouraged or required per facility policy
- Background check and drug screening clearance as required by the facility
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatrics preferred but new grads with certification are welcome
- Up-to-date immunizations (flu, TB screening) as required by the facility
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- GNA certificate/license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Focused knowledge of geriatric care and common age-related conditions
- Comfort assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents and families
- Basic documentation skills and attention to detail
- Understanding of infection control practices and HIPAA privacy rules
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative care team
