Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to patients including assistance with activities of daily living
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to nursing staff
- Assist with patient transfers, ambulation and safe mobility, using proper body mechanics
- Support bathing, grooming, dressing and feeding while promoting patient dignity
- Document care thoroughly and communicate clearly with the care team during handoffs
- Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
- Build rapport with patients and families to support emotional and psychosocial needs
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (Certified Nursing Assistant) — required
- State registration or ability to obtain CNA status in North Carolina
- Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Up-to-date immunizations and successful background check (facility requirement)
- Strong communication skills and a positive, patient-centered attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED; completion of an accredited CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in patient care basics: bathing, toileting, feeding and mobility assistance
- Accurate vital signs measurement and documentation
- Familiarity with infection control and standard precautions
- Good observational skills to notice changes in patient condition
- Teamwork, time management and reliable attendance
- Comfortable using basic electronic charting or paper documentation systems
