Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting with compassion and respect
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident condition accurately and promptly
- Provide safe transfers and mobility support, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Maintain clean, comfortable and dignified living spaces for residents
- Communicate changes in resident status to the nursing team and document care thoroughly
- Support social and recreational activities to promote resident engagement
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols and facility policies at all times
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- State GNA registration or ability to obtain Maryland GNA credential
- Comfortable working nights and supporting older adult populations
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility health requirements
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with ADLs and basic resident care
- Vital signs monitoring and documentation
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Basic charting and electronic documentation familiarity
- Infection prevention and control best practices
- Compassionate communication with residents and families
