Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities — bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident status, communicating changes to the care team promptly
- Provide compassionate personal care tailored to geriatric needs, preserving dignity and comfort
- Support safe transfers and ambulation using proper techniques and assistive devices
- Document resident care accurately and timely in the facility charting system
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or obtain upon hire)
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required immunizations
- Comfort working with older adults and supporting their physical and emotional needs
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on resident care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Basic clinical observations: taking and recording vital signs
- Understanding of infection control, safety procedures, and fall prevention
- Familiarity with charting/documentation and reporting changes in condition
- Compassionate interpersonal skills for effective resident and family interactions
