Shift Type: Monday-Friday (variable days), primary day shift 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM; On-call rotation includes coverage for weekdays, weekends and holidays with call shifts that may be 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM and 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (1-2 weekends/month, every other weekend)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert, compassionate nursing care before, during and after GI procedures such as EGD, colonoscopy and ERCP
• Perform specimen handling and assist with biopsies and hemostasis procedures to support excellent clinical outcomes
• Monitor and assess patients’ physiologic status, intervene appropriately and escalate concerns to the team
• Coordinate with physicians, techs and support staff to keep procedure rooms running smoothly and on schedule
• Provide safe sedation and post-procedure recovery care, following ACLS/BLS/PALS protocols as needed
• Support quality documentation and charting in Cerner for accurate patient records
• Participate in the on-call rotation, responding to weekday, weekend and holiday needs promptly
• Float to Short Stay when needed, adapting quickly to different patient populations and workflows

Qualifications

• Current RN license in California (active, unrestricted)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (GI/Endoscopy experience strongly preferred)
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA)
• Comfort with call responsibilities including nights, weekends and holidays
• Familiarity with Cerner charting or equivalent electronic medical records
• Strong patient assessment, critical thinking and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in an acute care/endoscopy setting and assist with procedures

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience with GI/endoscopy procedures: EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP and sigmoidoscopy
• Proficiency in biopsy assistance and bleeding control techniques
• Knowledge of sedation, airway management and post-procedure recovery
• Familiarity with sterile technique, procedure room workflows and instrumentation
• Skilled in patient monitoring, IV management and emergency response
• Charting and documentation proficiency in Cerner or similar EMR systems
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for multidisciplinary care
