Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and Night 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Schedule includes every-other-weekend coverage (Fri/Sat nights or Sat/Sun days), holiday rotation (one of every three major holidays), and occasional optional on-call 4-hour increments when low census. Typical assignment notes: nights are 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; guaranteed 36 hours/week; may float to Postpartum in rotation.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert labor and delivery nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum and immediate postpartum patients
- Perform continuous fetal monitoring and interpret fetal heart tracings using Cerner fetal links and FHM
- Triage patients effectively and prioritize care as charge nurse when assigned
- Collaborate with OB/GYN physicians, anesthesia, RT, pharmacy and Stanford NICU staff for safe deliveries and neonatal care
- Float to postpartum as needed and support lactation plans with day-shift lactation team
- Document care accurately in Cerner PowerChart maternity and complete NST assessments
- Maintain unit safety procedures including infant security (hugs and kisses system) and infection control
- Support patient- and family-centered care, including use of translation services for Mandarin-speaking patients
Qualifications
- Active RN (Registered Nurse) license eligible for California practice
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (Labor & Delivery preferred)
- Current certifications: Advanced Fetal Monitoring, ACLS, BLS, NRP (required)
- Comfortable with Cerner PowerChart maternity and Cerner fetal links for fetal heart monitoring
- Ability to function as charge nurse/triage when scheduled and to float to postpartum
- Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, every-other-weekend, and participate in holiday rotation
- Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to collaborate with NICU and OB techs
Education
- Active RN license (BSN not required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Labor & Delivery clinical skills and couplet care (1:3 or 1:4 couplet ratios per ACOG/CA guidelines)
- Fetal monitoring interpretation and NST experience
- Cerner EMR proficiency (PowerChart maternity and fetal monitoring links)
- Triage and charge nurse decision-making
- Postpartum care, LDRP room workflow and lactation support coordination
- Experience collaborating with NICU staff and OB techs
- Comfort working with diverse patient populations and using translation services (Mandarin common)
