Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care for acute patients, including ventilator management and respiratory support
• Operate and troubleshoot a range of ventilators such as Trilogy 100, Hamilton G5/C1, PB 840/980, Phillips V60, and Vela
• Perform patient assessments, interpret ABGs, and implement effective weaning protocols
• Deliver neonatal and pediatric resuscitation when needed, following NRP and PALS guidelines
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized respiratory plans of care
• Document care accurately in Cerner and communicate changes in patient status clearly
• Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and provide advanced airway management as required
• Serve as a reliable floater when unit needs shift, maintaining high-quality care across settings

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC required
• Active California RCP license required
• BLS (AHA), ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and PALS required
• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience in acute care
• Demonstrated competence with mechanical ventilation and advanced airway management
• Comfortable charting in Cerner and working as a floater across units

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
• BS degree not required for this role

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
• Experience with Trilogy 100, Hamilton G5, Hamilton C1, PB 840, PB 980, Phillips V60, and Vela
• Acute care respiratory protocols and weaning strategies
• Neonatal and pediatric resuscitation principles (NRP, PALS)
• ABG interpretation, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medication delivery
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting
