Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to laboring mothers and newborns in the Family Birth Center
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and accurately interpret tracings to support safe deliveries
• Lead and coordinate care as Charge Nurse when assigned, ensuring smooth unit operations
• Assist during C-sections and care for newborns alongside Respiratory Therapy and anesthesia
• Document patient status and interventions thoroughly in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including RT and pharmacy, to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to MedSurg when needed to assist with unit needs and maintain continuity of care
• Participate in holiday and staff rotation scheduling to support the facility’s coverage

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit for this assignment)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (L&D experience required/preferred)
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)
• COVID vaccination proof required
• Experience with Cerner EMR
• Comfort assisting during C-sections and performing newborn resuscitation
• Willingness to work 12-hour night shifts and float as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery clinical expertise and comfort with L&D patient populations
• Advanced fetal monitoring interpretation (AWHONN AFM)
• Neonatal resuscitation skills (NRP)
• Cerner charting and electronic documentation proficiency
• Charge nurse leadership and unit coordination
• Experience collaborating with Respiratory Therapy and anesthesia teams
• MedSurg float experience to support nearby units when needed
• Ability to manage 1:1 up to 1:4 patient ratios depending on acuity
