Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule includes night rotation with 3–4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule and holidays worked per unit needs (nights, floats to other ICUs/Westgate as requested)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity CVICU care for post‑operative cardiac surgery and complex cardiothoracic patients
- Monitor and manage invasive lines and devices — central lines, Swan‑Ganz, IABP and other mechanical circulatory support
- Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias promptly and accurately
- Perform and document nursing care in Cerner EMR with attention to detail and patient safety
- Maintain sterile technique for bedside procedures and demonstrate competency in Foley insertion and central line dressing changes
- Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and multidisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes
- Float to other ICUs and telemetry units as needed and support unit staffing as a charge nurse when assigned
- Participate in SIMs Lab and orientation activities to validate clinical skills and unit-specific competencies
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to submit; team is willing to wait for licensure clearance)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (CVICU experience preferred)
- BLS and ACLS required
- MUST HAVE Level I Trauma experience
- Strong IV skills; experience with IV insertion/management required
- Dysrhythmia recognition competency required — candidate must pass dysrhythmia exam (two attempts allowed)
- Ability to pass SIMs Lab skills (Foley insertion and central line dressing change) on day 1 of orientation
- CCRN preferred
- Willingness to float to other ICUs/telemetry and to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Travel nurses must have their own vehicle and meet appearance/fit test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit testing)
Education
- Active RN licensure required (ability to submit/credential)
- BSN preferred but not explicitly required
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac post-op care and recovery (CABG, TAVR, thoracic cases)
- Experience with ECMO, CRRT, IABP, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Dysrhythmia recognition and ACLS algorithm application
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry systems
- Strong sterile technique and bedside procedural competency
- Ability to manage high-acuity patient ratios (frequent 1:1 assignments)
- Comfort working with transplants, ventilated patients, and complex post-op interventions
