Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality progressive care nursing for telemetry patients, monitoring and responding to evolving conditions
- Perform and interpret EKGs — note that passing the facility EKG exam is mandatory
- Use Epic for accurate and timely documentation and care coordination
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams at a Level III Trauma teaching hospital to deliver safe, patient-centered care
- Manage patient assignments at the published ratios (typically 1:4-5) while prioritizing safety and quality
- Participate in required weekend coverage and support unit needs, including floating to like units as necessary
- Maintain readiness for observed holidays and support continuity of care during peak times
Qualifications
- Must pass the facility EKG exam (no exceptions)
- BLS and ACLS required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (PCU/Telemetry experience preferred)
- First-time travel nurses are welcome
- Pending licenses are not accepted — active RN license required (per facility policy)
- Ability and willingness to float within scope to like units when needed
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry and EKG rhythm recognition skills
- Experience with Epic electronic charting
- Comfort working 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced acute care setting
- Solid clinical judgment with progressive care patient populations
- Effective communication and teamwork in a teaching hospital environment
- Ability to manage patient assignments at 1:4-5 ratios while maintaining quality
