Registered Nurse - PCU/Telemetry (Oncology)
Location: Columbus, OH
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 3x12 pattern: Day 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM (3 shifts/week) or Night 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM (3 shifts/week); rotating schedule that may include weekends, specific days vary based on unit needs
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias, initiating appropriate interventions and rapid response when needed
- Provide high-quality PCU and telemetry nursing care to adults and geriatric patients with surgical oncology diagnoses
- Administer and manage chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips with attention to safety and protocols
- Perform chest tube and tracheostomy care and management, ensuring patient comfort and device function
- Use Epic for complete, accurate charting and handoffs to maintain continuity of care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, respiratory, PT, pharmacy, and rapid response to optimize patient outcomes
- Lead infection prevention practices and fall prevention efforts on the unit
- Provide patient and family education, emotional support, and clear communication during complex cancer care
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- Required PCU work experience and telemetry familiarity
- Epic charting experience required
- Certifications preferred: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Experience with chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and managing insulin and heparin drips
- Comfortable with chest tube care, tracheostomy care, and cardiac monitoring equipment
- Ability to float to other acute care oncology units as needed
- Flu vaccine required per facility guideline; COVID-19 vaccine not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and cardiac monitoring, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- PCU and MS/Tele clinical skills
- Chemotherapy procedures and oncologic emergency recognition
- Blood transfusion protocols and IV antibiotic administration
- Chest tube and tracheostomy care
- Use of equipment such as B450 GE telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, bladder scanner, and Stryker beds
- Strong infection prevention practices and fall risk management
- Effective documentation in Epic and clear interdisciplinary communication
