Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a fast-paced emergency department
- Stabilize and manage trauma and critical patients using evidence-based emergency nursing practices
- Administer medications and treatments safely while documenting care in the patient record
- Collaborate closely with physicians, techs and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
- Perform focused physical assessments and interpret diagnostic data to drive timely interventions
- Provide clear patient and family education with compassion and professionalism
- Maintain competency through required specialty testing and skills checklists
Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in Connecticut (license verification required)
- BLS required
- ACLS required
- PALS or ENPC required
- TNCC preferred
- Level 1 trauma experience preferred
- Current fit testing and required immunizations/health screenings per facility policy
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong emergency department nursing and trauma care knowledge
- Skilled in rapid assessment, prioritization and critical thinking
- Familiarity with emergency protocols, triage systems and trauma team activation
- Experience with medication administration and basic procedures in the ED
- Ability to work effectively in high-acuity, high-turnover environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
