Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform initial, age-appropriate nursing assessments to identify patient needs
• Complete ongoing reassessments and discharge assessments to ensure continuity of care
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care based on physician orders
• Administer medications correctly using med-verify and evaluate patient responses
• Communicate patient status and care activities clearly to the interdisciplinary team
• Document patient care in accordance with hospital policies and professional standards
• Initiate specialty or supplemental nursing notes as needed to support clinical decisions
• Participate in bedside rounding, multidisciplinary team meetings, and quality improvement efforts
• Maintain a safe physical environment and ensure equipment and supplies are ready
• Participate in emergency/disaster preparedness planning and response as requested

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Maine or a compact nursing license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Immunizations required: Varicella (2 doses or titer), HepB (3 doses or titer or declination accepted), MMR (2 doses or titer), Tdap, PPD 2-step or titer within past 12 months; flu shot required during flu season
• BSN preferred
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with effective verbal and written communication
• Ability to perform required physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting up to 30 lbs, pushing patients in wheelchairs/stretchers, and safe patient handling
