Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating day/evening shifts, mix of 8-, 10- and 12-hour shifts between 06:30 AM and 11:30 PM (typical patterns include Day 4x10: 06:30 AM - 05:00 PM and Day 3x12: 11:30 AM - 11:30 PM). Call required: Monday-Friday 09:00 PM - 06:30 AM; Weekend call coverage includes Sat/Sun 06:30 AM - 07:00 PM and 07:00 PM - 06:30 AM. Flexible scheduling with weekend requirement and variable shift lengths to meet department needs.

Candidate Pay Rate: $57 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and sterile fields using strict aseptic technique to ensure patient safety
- Assist surgical teams during complex cases including neurosurgery, spine, ortho-spine and bariatric procedures
- Manage instrument processing, sterilization, and case cart setup for a wide range of specialties
- Support intraoperative specimen handling and labeling to maintain diagnostic accuracy
- Provide dependable coverage for call and weekend assignments to support emergent and trauma cases
- Contribute to team education and communication in a teaching hospital environment
- Operate and care for specialized equipment including scopes, cell saver and robotic instruments when needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist (travel experience required/preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in Neurosurgery and Spine cases; ortho spine and complex general surgery (including bariatrics) strongly preferred
- Trauma experience required (Trauma Level II required, Level I preferred)
- BCLS (BLS) certification required
- Teaching hospital experience required; prior travel assignments preferred
- Epic experience preferred
- Comfort with call and weekend coverage, and flexibility to work varied shift lengths and times
Knowledge & Skills
- Aseptic technique, sterilization/disinfection, and instrument processing expertise
- Proficiency with operating room procedures and endoscopic cases (EGD, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy)
- Familiarity with specimen handling/labeling and universal protocol (time out)
- Wound care, dressing changes, and perioperative patient support
- Experience with specialized equipment: scopes, fiber optic instruments, electrosurgical units, cell saver, and robotic systems
- Ability to work effectively in trauma, transplant, and high-acuity OR settings
- Strong communication, teamwork, and charting familiarity (Epic preferred)
