Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care including assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding)
• Monitor and record vital signs accurately and report meaningful changes to nursing staff
• Assist with safe patient transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics
• Support resident comfort and dignity while fostering independence
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe care environment
• Document care and observations clearly in the patient record to support continuity
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to meet patient goals
• Respond promptly to call lights and patient needs with professionalism and empathy

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — required
• Active or eligible for New Mexico CNA registry (or able to transfer eligibility) — required
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification — preferred or obtain upon hire
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and able to safely lift/transfer patients per facility policy
• Clear background check and satisfactory employment verifications

Education

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Current CNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient care skills and experience with ADLs
• Accurate vital signs measurement and recording
• Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
• Good communication skills with patients, families, and team members
• Basic documentation skills; experience with electronic health records is a plus
• Ability to prioritize tasks and respond calmly in busy situations
