Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist in diagnosing lung and breathing disorders through hands-on assessment
- Evaluate patients and perform respiratory tests and studies to inform care
- Collaborate with physicians to determine individualized therapy and treatment plans
- Collect and analyze blood and sputum samples to support diagnostic decisions
- Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment and devices
- Educate patients and families about lung diseases, breathing techniques, and home care
- Document patient care, progress, and treatment plans clearly and timely
- Participate in collaborative treatment planning with the interdisciplinary team
Qualifications
- Active Oklahoma respiratory care license (required)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential preferred
- Current BLS certification; ACLS and PALS preferred where applicable
- Comfortable performing pulmonary diagnostics, ABG analysis, and laboratory sample handling
- Strong patient education and communication skills; able to explain treatments clearly
- Ability to work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary care team
- Willingness to complete facility-specific onboarding and required immunizations
Education
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory care program (Bachelor’s degree preferred when available)
- Completion of clinical practicum as part of the accredited program

- Respiratory therapy techniques and best practices
- Patient assessment and pulmonary diagnostic testing
- Blood and sputum analysis fundamentals
- Respiratory equipment management and troubleshooting
- Patient and family education strategies for chronic and acute respiratory conditions
- Collaborative treatment planning in a clinical setting
- Laboratory sample collection and handling
