Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly and accurately
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents and families
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and follow care plans
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
- Assist with meal setup and feeding as needed, accommodating dietary needs and preferences
- Participate in team huddles and collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to improve resident outcomes
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state-equivalent nursing assistant credential
- Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Proven experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach
- Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and required health screenings
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work the assigned shift hours
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- GNA certification or state nursing assistant certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in ADLs, safe resident handling, and fall prevention strategies
- Basic documentation and charting skills, with attention to detail
- Infection control practices and proper use of PPE
- Ability to work collaboratively within a care team and follow care plans
- Strong interpersonal skills and empathy when interacting with residents and families
