Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with the interdisciplinary team
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in meaningful activities
• Follow infection control practices and facility policies to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
• Ability and willingness to work night shifts (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background checks per facility policy
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong observational skills and the ability to notice subtle changes in resident condition
• Compassionate bedside manner and patient-centered care skills
• Basic clinical skills such as taking vital signs and assisting with ADLs
• Clear verbal and written communication for accurate documentation
• Teamwork and collaboration with nurses, therapists, and support staff
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during shift
