Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with the interdisciplinary team
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in meaningful activities
- Follow infection control practices and facility policies to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
- Ability and willingness to work night shifts (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background checks per facility policy
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong observational skills and the ability to notice subtle changes in resident condition
- Compassionate bedside manner and patient-centered care skills
- Basic clinical skills such as taking vital signs and assisting with ADLs
- Clear verbal and written communication for accurate documentation
- Teamwork and collaboration with nurses, therapists, and support staff
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during shift
