Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in MedSurgical and Telemetry settings
• Float between units of equivalent or lower acuity and adapt quickly to changing patient needs
• Start and maintain IVs and perform phlebotomy safely and confidently
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to support timely interventions
• Manage patient assignments at a 1:4-5 ratio while prioritizing safety and quality
• Document thoroughly in EPIC to ensure continuity of care and clear communication
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory, PT, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Support emergencies and rapid responses as part of the code team when needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a MedSurgical setting
• Current BCLS (BLS) certification required
• Proficient in IV starts, phlebotomy, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience using EPIC electronic health records system
• Travel nursing experience required and comfortable floating between units
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, CPI, NIHSS
• Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:4-5 and maintain strong communication and teamwork
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Knowledge & Skills

• MedSurgical nursing and MS/Tele work flow
• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation
• IV therapy, PICC and central line care, and blood product administration
• Phlebotomy and starting/maintaining peripheral IVs
• Experience with high flow nasal cannula, CPAP/BIPAP, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
• Familiarity with heparin and IV insulin protocols, PCA, and non-titration cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Wound care, wound vac management, and orthopedics/trauma basics
• Rapid Response and Code Team participation and emergency response skills
• Strong organizational skills, communication, and teamwork
